A new feature film, Maserati: The Brothers, tells the story of how the legendary Italian marque rose to fame. As the title suggests, it centres on the founding brothers – Alfieri, Bindo and Carlo Maserati.

Even the smaller roles are filled by Hollywood heavyweights. Al Pacino plays an early investor, Anthony Hopkins a financial backer, and Andy Garcia appears as a business adviser.

The film is directed by Oscar winner Bobby Moresco. Its main thread follows the brothers from a small workshop in Bologna to the world of international motor racing. Fiercely proud of their family name and their brand, the young men had one great ambition: to become the first Italian carmaker to conquer the Indianapolis 500. It is no spoiler to say that Maserati won the legendary race twice – in 1939 and again in 1940.

Shooting took place in Modena, Bologna and the storied Cinecittà studios in Rome. When it reaches cinemas in November 2026, the film should sit comfortably alongside recent motoring dramas such as Ferrari, the 2023 release starring Adam Driver, and Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, which came out a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Maserati faces a challenge of its own: moving its model range towards electromobility. Alongside its SUVs, the brand now offers its luxury coupé with an advanced electric powertrain, too.
